TIPP: Scientists and researchers who relocate to Austria from abroad can apply for a tax residence permit Immigration benefits or an immigration allowance (Zuzugsbegünstigung bzw. Zuzugsfreibetrag). The informal application (no form!) must be submitted in writing in German to the Austrian (not Innsbruck!) tax office within six months of moving to Austria. It is highly recomended to consult a tax advisor. More info here.
RECOGNITION OF CERTIFICATES - NOSTRIFICATION
There is a branch of the AST in Innsbruck in the offices of the ZeMiT (= Centre for Migrants in Tyrol). The AST (Anerkennungsstelle) offers free multilingual recognition counselling for people with qualifications acquired abroad. The contact person for Tyrol and Vorarlberg is Ms Mirjana Stojakovič ast.tirol@zemit.at.
The Information Recognition Application System (AAIS) allows you to submit applications for assessments of higher education qualifications online. The Federal Ministry of Women, Science and Research (part of the ENIC NARIC network) issues assessments for qualifications from recognized higher education institutions from all countries of the world.
