Preis der Landeshauptstadt Innsbruck für wissenschaftliche Forschung an der Universität Innsbruck
The City of Innsbruck announces the call for the " Preis der Landeshauptstadt Innsbruck für wissenschaftliche Forschung an der Universität Innsbruck ". A total of 20,000 euros will be awarded.The prize will be awarded to one or more prize winners.
Academic staff with a doctorate from the following faculties of the University of Innsbruck can submit entries:
- the Faculty of Catholic Theology
- the Faculty of Law
- Faculty of Business and Management
- the Faculty of social and Political Sciences,
- the Faculty of Economics and Statistics
- Faculty of Educational Sciences
- the Faculty of Philosophy and History
- Faculty of Language, Literature and Culture
- the Faculty of Teacher Education
At the time of submission, the doctoral degree may not date back more than a maximum of 10 years. Child-rearing periods (two years for each child cared for), care periods (usually care leave) and longer periods of serious illness that have led to a career interruption are taken into account. The respective submission date is used to determine the ten-year period.
Monographs (including postdoctoral theses and published dissertations) or two to three coherent, high-class papers/articles. The works to be submitted must have been published or accepted for publication in the last three calendar years (i.e. 2021 or later).
The works must have an affiliation to the University of Innsbruck.
In the case of collaborative work, only the main author (first author or corresponding author) can submit in agreement with the co-authors.

Documents to be submitted
- Application form download
- Scientific paper(s) as .pdf upload or weblink (for dissertations and habilitations please enclose the reviews)
- Abstract (max. 1 A4 page in the usual language for the respective scientific field in German or English)
- Detailed CV; list of relevant publications of the applicant (FLD excerpt)
- Short CV in German (will be used for the ceremony, 5-7 sentences as a docx document)
- Informal declaration of consent from the co-authors
The next call is expected to take place in spring 2026.
Please note that scientific work that has already been honoured by the University of Innsbruck will not be awarded a prize a second time. This applies to the following prizes: Preis des Fürstentums Liechtenstein für wissenschaftliche Forschung an der Universität Innsbruck und der Medizinischen Universität Innsbruck, Hypo Tirol Bank Dissertationspreis, Forschungspreis der Stiftung Südtiroler Sparkasse.
The “Preis der Landeshauptstadt Innsbruck für wissenschaftliche Forschung” can only be awarded once to the same person.
The proposal for awarding the prize is prepared by the responsible member of the Rectorate on the basis of independent expert opinions.
The “Preis der Landeshauptstadt Innsbruck für wissenschaftliche Forschung” is awarded at an ceremony at the end of the year.
The German version prevails over the English one in case of deviations.
